The short version

  • The Parrot app is free to use with your own servers.
  • Parrot Cloud is in early access: by invitation, free for now, and still changing.
  • Your books stay yours. We store them to deliver them to your devices and process selected excerpts if you enable recaps.
  • Only add books you have the right to keep a copy of.
  • You can delete your account at any time.

About these terms

Parrot is published under the brand Lunaria, based in Litija, Slovenia, with postal address [ADDRESS] (“we”). These terms describe your use of Parrot and Parrot Cloud. By using Parrot you accept them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the app. [LEGAL REVIEW: Lunaria is a brand, not a registered business; legal operator identity remains deferred.]

What Parrot is

Parrot is an app for reading ebooks and listening to audiobooks. It can connect to servers you run or use yourself, such as Storyteller or Audiobookshelf, and to Parrot Cloud, our optional library service.

Parrot Cloud early access

  • Parrot Cloud is offered by invitation while we finish it. It is free during early access.
  • Storage and upload limits are shown in the app. The current deployment configuration defaults to 200 MiB; account-specific limits can differ. [CONFIRM deployed limits before publication.]
  • Some features, such as adding books and recaps, are switched on per account.
  • Early access can change, pause or end. If it ends, we will give you at least 60 days’ notice and a way to download your library, unless urgent security or legal reasons require earlier closure.
  • If we later offer paid plans, we will tell you the price first. Nothing is charged unless you choose to buy.

Your account

  • You need an account only for Parrot Cloud.
  • Use a real email address you can reach and keep your password to yourself.
  • An account is for one person. You must be at least 16.
  • Tell us if you think someone else is using your account.

Your books and notes

You keep any rights you already have in files and notes you add. You give us limited, non-exclusive permission to host, copy, back up and transmit them as necessary to provide the service to you, verify file integrity and handle security or lawful abuse requests. If you enable recaps, this also permits processing selected reading excerpts with DeepInfra's Mistral Nemo model to generate your summaries, as described in the privacy policy. It does not grant us ownership or permission to distribute your books to other users or use them for advertising. We do not request model training or fine-tuning using your reading text. [CONFIRM processor agreement and transfer safeguards before enabling recaps publicly.]

You may only add files you have the right to keep a personal copy of, and you confirm this when you add them. Parrot Cloud is a private library: it has no way to share books with other people, and you must not use it to do so.

What you must not do

  • Add unlawful content or content you have no right to store.
  • Share your account or pass on your invitation for payment.
  • Get around storage limits or other technical limits.
  • Attack, overload or probe the service, or use it to harm others.

Copyright complaints

If you believe a file in Parrot Cloud infringes your rights, follow our copyright and abuse instructions. Identify the work, the stored material as precisely as you can, your contact details and your authority to act. We may request more information, restrict unlawful files and suspend or close accounts for repeated infringement, subject to applicable law.

If your content or account is restricted, contact us to request review and explain why you believe the decision is mistaken. [LAWYER CHECK applicable notice-and-action obligations, appeal procedure, repeat-infringer policy and any US designated-agent registration before launch.]

Other people’s servers and software

Storyteller and Audiobookshelf are independent projects. We are not affiliated with them and are not responsible for servers we do not run, or for what is stored on them.

Automatic summaries and voices

Recaps and on-device voices are generated automatically and can contain mistakes. They are a reading aid, not a replacement for the book.

Changes and availability

We work to keep Parrot Cloud available but can’t promise it will never be interrupted, especially during early access. We may add, change or remove features. Keep your own copy of any book you add.

Ending the agreement

You can stop at any time by deleting your account. We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms; where we reasonably can, we will warn you first and let you download your library.

Our responsibility

Nothing in these terms limits the rights you have by law as a consumer. Beyond those rights, the app and the early-access service are provided free of charge and as they are, and we are liable only for harm we cause on purpose or through gross negligence. [LAWYER CHECK]

Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of Slovenia. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live and can bring a claim in its courts. Write to us first at rok@parrotapp.dev; most problems are solved that way.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app at least 30 days before. If you don’t agree, you can delete your account before the change applies.
